Introduction
There are two DT Nexus Transmissive Targets:
- The DT Nexus Transmissive Profiling Target (DT NTPT)
- The DT Nexus Transmissive Validation Target (DT NTVT)
The main purpose of each of these targets is for creating and validating profiles for transmissive materials. The DT NTPT is a reference target intended for the robust and precise creation of color profiles to improve the color accuracy of the digitization of transmissive materials such as photographic film and glass plates. The DT NTVT is intended to provide independent validation of those resulting profiles.
Color Science Validation
These targets were designed in collaboration with the color scientists at Grey Sky Imaging, namely Dr. Dave Wyble and Dr. Roy Berns. The patch colorants were selected for their spectral characteristics to provide a wide and densely covered gamut of colors.
Gamut
The DT NTPT has an impressively large gamut that exceeds the sRGB and Adobe 1998 color spaces while also having a large number of well-distributed neutral, low chroma (near neutral), and mid chroma patches. See the visualization below:
