Triggering Capture with DT Stellar Lights
1min
if using dt stellar in continuous mode and without fusion capture, the user can trigger capture from the camera, capture one, or dt nexus in this case a foot pedal or hand trigger can be plugged directly into the camera, or into the dt stellar light, with the same outcome however, when using flash mode or fusion capture it is required that dt nexus (not the camera or capture one) start the capture sequence to facilitate this workflow we recommend four changes to the setup use a foot pedal or hand trigger this can be plugged directly into the dt stellar then when the trigger is activated the light sends a message to dt nexus that a capture has been requested, resulting in identical behavior to clicking “capture” in dt nexus remove the camera tool from capture one tools once the rough exposure has been set there is no need to modify camera settings in capture one clicking \[ ] in the top right of the camera tool, and then “remove” will hide the tool remove the capture icon from the capture one toolbar right click the toolbar and select customize toolbar then drag capture (camera icon) out of the toolbar to remove it remove the command k keyboard shortcut from capture one under edit > edit keyboard shortcuts find the camera > capture shortcut, double click the command k entry, and delete that shortcut, leaving it blank if desired, you can use apptivate (third party app) to bind “command k” to dt nexus’ capture action, even if it’s not in the foreground please contact dt support for more details however the option to use a foot pedal is generally preferable a final option is to use the stellar lights in standalone mode and use wireless flash triggers to initiate capture however, in this case you will not be able to control the lights from dt nexus, nor will you be able to use fusion mode
