Controlling DT Stellar / Gemin...
Initial Setup
Connecting with a Non-Admin Account
1min
ongoing admin privileges are not required to use a dt stellar within dt nexus, but they are required one time to set up the dt connect dongle if you are not using an administrator (“admin”) account on macos you can still set up and use stellar lights dt connect dongles will show up as a standard ethernet network adapter; for them to work as intended the macos setting for that adapter must be changed from the default of automatic ip assignment (dhcp) to a linklocal ip address of 169 254 0 1 when running in an administrator account any dt connect dongle plugged into the mac will be automatically assigned this ip address by dt nexus this only needs to be done once so if you are able to run dt nexus in an administrator account and plug in a dt connect it will thereafter work in any non administrator account as well alternatively you or a member of your it team can attach a dt connect while running in a non admin account and go to apple > system settings > network > realtek usb 10/100/1000 lan > details > tcp/ip , set configure ipv4 to manually, and enter 169 254 0 1 this will require the credentials of an administrator, but does not require logging in as an administrator
